Bakery style muffins are the best muffins.
They are soooo much better than your average 12-per-tray lunchbox-sized muffins.
They’re big, they’re beautiful, and they’re almost guaranteed to have those sought-after crunchy muffin tops* that every home baker goes to bed and dreams about.
We’ve all had those dreams, right? It’s a thing. I know it is.
Bakery style muffins are just a bit of a special treat. They’re not the muffins you bulk-bake on a Sunday afternoon and freeze to eat for the next two weeks. They’re not the muffins you make by substituting half the ingredients for healthier ones. And they’re not the muffins you whip up for playgroup to be half-heartedly nibbled on by calorie-counting mums and mushed between chubby toddler hands.
They’re the muffins you lovingly bake with all the sugar you please. They’re the muffins you demolish warm from the oven, smothered with all the butter in the house. They’re the muffins you bake for a friend going through a hard time because you know what she needs right now is a sugar coma, not another bunch of flowers.
Yeah. Those muffins.
*Once you’re done nomming the tops off these bad boys, grab the bottoms and whip up our Gilmore Girls-inspired Muffin Bottom Pie. You will be ridiculously glad that you did!

Now, onto those glorious muffins…
Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Muffin Recipe
These bakery-style chocolate chip muffins are single-handedly responsible for putting bakery style muffins in my head. I found them on a random Pinterest search and my world was changed! Choc chip muffins have to be one of my absolute FAVOURITE muffins. I know that’s a completely unrefined thing for me admit, but it is what it is. 4-year-old me and current-age me will always have that in common.
Sparkling Jumbo Blueberry Muffin Recipe
I have actually made these!! I actually have! See, I’m not one of those bloggers who drops links she’s never tried, all for the sake of a round-up. No, I go into the (muffin baking) trenches for you, my loyal readers. And let me tell you, these blueberry muffins from Sally’s Baking Addiction were easy to whip up, and they were diviiiine. I didn’t have any sparkly sugar on-hand so mine didn’t sparkle, but I subbed in some granulated sugar and still achieved that epic crunch on top. BUT. A quick search on Amazon produced the exact sparkling sugar that she uses in her recipe. So you, my friend, are unstoppable now.
Mmmm. I see these in my very near future again!
Bakery Style Cranberry Streusel Oatmeal Muffin Recipe
I love a good crumble/streusel top on a muffin, and just look at this. Perfection! I would like to dive headfirst into that streusel crumble and spend the rest of my life nestled up in all those oats and brown sugar. This muffin recipe uses whole wheat flour so um… it’s
definitely/ probably/perhaps slightly healthy. Ish. Healthy-ish. And not that that’s the goal for a bakery style muffin, but it’s nice.
Check them out at It’s Yummi.
Double Chocolate Muffin Recipe
This is what we’re all here for, right? Decadent, rich, moist, perfect chocolate muffins? These bad boys from Pretty. Simple. Sweet are frickin glorious. I mean if this muffin recipe right here doesn’t scream “CHOCOLATEEEEEE” I don’t know what does. Chocolate is great. We should all be like these muffins and pack ourselves with chocolate. Preferably via these muffins.
Lemon Crumb Muffin Recipe
Fact: I have never made a lemon muffin. Why!?! This stunning recipe by Mildly Meandering looks like the absolutely perfect way to incorporate a hearty dose of citrus into a morning snack. I feel like if I popped them on my pristine (ha!) white kitchen bench to cool in the Spring time, they would just really class up the joint. Lemon is one of those elegant but mouth-watering flavours in baking.
Pumpkin Muffin Recipe
PUMPKIN. I love all things pumpkin. And I can say without sounding *too* basic because I live in Australia and we don’t celebrate the humble pumpkin quite the same way that y’all do in the states (though that’s the dream. My dream, specifically). I haven’t even tasted a pumpkin spice latte in my life. Sniff. Anyway. I love the look of these pumpkin muffins from Lauren’s Latest because a) PUMPKIN and b) don’t they look cute with those pumpkin seeds sprinkled on top? OK, so maybe I AM kinda basic. YOLO.
Jumbo Banana Choc Chip Muffin Recipe
Banana choc chip muffins were my Mum’s go-to muffin specialty when I was growing up. So this particular flavour combo will always be special to me. In fact, banana chocolate ANYTHING will always bring a smile to my dial. Banana chocolate bread. Banana chocolate smoothies. Heck, slice up a banana and drizzle it with plain old melted chocolate (and maybe some sprinkles for kicks) and I’m stoked. But anyway. Muffins. Banana choc chip bakery style muffins. YES.
These classic yummers can be found at Life Made Simple.
Brown Butter Apple Pie Muffin Recipe
Whoever thought to pair the warn, comforting familiarity of an apple pie and stuff it inside a big fat bakery style muffin is a genius. Apple is such a great addition to all things baked. It adds moisture and I love that texture of a little baked apple chunk between my teeth. It’s a full sensory experience! These brown butter apple pie muffins from Beyond Frosting look totally decadent and sweet. Next on my to-bake list for sure!
Chocolate Espresso Muffin Recipe
Oh gosh. I might be weeping behind my screen as I write these muffins up. Chocolate. Coffee. Pecans. These are some pretty joy-inducing ingredients. If you’re reading this, get into your kitchen, whip me up a batch of these, and bring them over. Instant friendship for life, I’m telling you. If you are also a lover of chocolate, coffee and pecans (duh of course you are), grab this decadent recipe at Pretty. Simple. Sweet. (Yes, the same blog that brought us those double chocolate muffins a few slots above this one, so you know she’s basically a chocolate muffin queen at this point).
Raspberry Chocolate Chip Muffin Recipe
These muffins are going to be flipping awesome a) because raspberry, b) because chocolate chips, and c) because they’re another mastermind creation of Sally’s Baking Addiction, the creator of those sparkling blueberry muffins I posted above that I have actually baked and wept over. Plus she uses that sparkling sugar again (but any coarse sugar will do). Check them out here – you know you want to.
