Spring has finally sprung, hooray! That means bold reds, stunning pinks, soft nudes and an array of other colour trends are gearing up to hit the scene. Backed by some hefty internet research (yeah, that’s right, I research my posts, I’m not making this stuff up), I’ve gathered some of what are sure to be the biggest hits for the new season. You’re welcome. Get ready to punch yourself in the mouth with these beautiful, vibrant lippys.
Fuscia combines the perfect mix of blue and pink, and there are heaps of variations, which means there’s a match for every skin tone. If you’re in the mood for something matte, NYX Liquid Suede in Pink Lust, Amethyst and Sway are all winners. The formula lasts flawlessly all day, when I swatched it on my hand I literally had to scrub it off with an exfoliator because it just wouldn’t budge. If a matte lip is too harsh on your pouters (mine dry out like crazy!), Sportsgirl have great moisturising lip products. Berrylicious from the Pout About It range leaves a really nice finish on your lips – it’s not matte but it’s not a super wet-lip either.
A classic red is always a huge hit for spring and a staple for any lipstick fanatic, and now orange is making an appearance too. Velourlips Matte Lip Cream by Australis is a brilliant, inexpensive lip product (and they smell incredible too. Like, when I first got it I thought, I wonder how much of this could I eat before it makes me sick? ). Mi-a-mee, San-fran-disco, Bar-tha-lona, Ny-cee and Rio-d are hot hues your lips will love. Sportsgirls Lip Chalk in Bombshell, and their Pout About It shades Flirt and Almost Famous should already be in your handbag.
A perfect, muted alternative to those in-your-face hues. Let’s face it, we can’t all rock a super bold lip to a casual brunch with friends. Pastel pinks are a great way to soften up your look this spring. Pout About It in Beauty Queen, Crème Cup by M.A.C and Lun-Dun by Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream are all beautiful in their subtlety. If you want to wear something that isn’t fully in-your-face but still has a bit of kick to it, try Blondie by Lime Crime, and you’ll look like a unicorn.
Nudes are a favourite of every season, so it’s no surprise they’re a winner for spring. The NYX Lingerie range has been labeled as the ultimate Kylie Jenner Lip Kit dupe, which is great because they’re like a quarter of the price and so readily available. Lace Detail is the perfect hue for my fair complexion, and with twelve nude colours in the range, you’re bound to find your champion colour. Models Prefer Moisture Lust Lip Tint Matte in Turkish Delight is another one I’m gonna push on you. This one is the cheapest of the bunch – a killer bargain at $7.99. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t recommend wearing it for like 10 hours because it does start to feel a bit yucky after a while, but if you’re just popping out for half a day then definitely chuck this ledge on. Other nude hits are Vertigo by Sportsgirl Pout About It, and Cashmere, Bleached and Buffy by Lime Crime Velvetines Matte Lipstick.
