…rocking up to an event accidentally wearing the same/similar outfit as a friend – awesome twinning or supes embarrassing? Personally I love it. I can’t help it. I was utterly delighted when a friend at work bought the same scarf as me at Kmart and we both wore it to work one day. But as soon as she clapped eyes on me, she yanked hers off and declared “I don’t do matching”. More recently, Tahlia and I have discovered we have almost identical gingham dresses. I am just waiting for the day that we wear them together. It’s the actual dream. I don’t know her thoughts on the matter though, so maybe she will avoid wearing it around me on purpose? What do you think of it all?
This week I made risotto. We have a family favourite recipe for Pizza Risotto and it’s SO GOOD. So. Good. But I find, every dang time I cook it, I get to this point where I think, “This risotto is never going to cook. It’s actually never going to.” You know that point? You’ve used up almost all your simmering stock, you’re taste-testing every five minutes, and dat rice is still crunchy. It feels as though that’s it, you’re going to be sweating over a hot stove, stirring gelatinous half-cooked arborio rice forever. This is your life now.
Then it is finally done, and you have glorious cheesy risotto piled high on your dinner plate! Makes it all worthwhile, every time.
Also, I’m pretty sure an entire generation of people now exists in which not one of them knows why the media refer to Victoria Beckham as “Posh”. Just throwing that out there. A couple of years ago I was training a new colleague in her early twenties and I mentioned that Hanson’s “Snowed In” is my all-time favourite Christmas album (because duh). Do you know what she said to me?
DO YOU KNOW!?
Ugh. It’s official. My heyday is over.
So here’s what I love today:
This vanilla latte coffee scrub sounds too divine for words!
Irish Soda Bread French Toast with Whiskey Syrup and Whipped Cream. Whaaaat. Come on now. This sounds almost as magical as Kat’s waffled brioche french toast. Almost.
Jodie’s article on 7 Ways I’m Nurturing My Creativity. OMG. I can’t believe how true this is! I am seriously inspired, and I think I should be writing each of her principles on a big board that I stare at every day before I do anything.
Emily’s post about her new journaling habit, and how it helps her focus on the little things. YES. I have always been a big believer in the little things and how they shape our happiness!
That viral video of the Dad being interrupted by his kids mid-interview. Oh man. I’ve watched it about 100 times. It has made my week!
