If you live in Perth, you know how beloved the Margaret River wineries are. Surrounded by vineyards, open space, great food, and even better wine, it’s a sought after holiday destination all year round. But sometimes there just isn’t time, or money, to holiday in paradise.
What if I told you that you could find your own little Margaret River getaway for a luxurious winery experience, right here in Perth? No, I’m not joking. Nestled in the Piesse Brook valley of the Perth hills, a winery has opened up and it’s serving nothing but the best of Italian wine and food.
La Fattoria has been a dream come true for winery owners, Eric & Lucy Radice. Their family has resided on the property for over 70 years, with 3 generations of family sprawled across the 25 acre orchard. La Fattoria has been born from a desire to share their Italian heritage and the beauty of their property with the world.
Pasta & Cece / Herbed roast chicken, Silican red cabbage, Rosemary Potatoes & Salad Greens
They started imagining this dream shortly after visiting Italy in 2012. “We discovered that food and wine is deeply connected in Italian family, culture and tradition. La Fattoria is our interpretation of this and we invite you and your family to take a journey with us into this food and wine experience”.
Nonna’s Family Table
And an experience you will get! When dining at La Fattoria, you have two options. Come for a 5 course set menu of Nonna’s Family Table, and you will not be disappointed. This is a booking-only option, so make sure you book in advance! Your other option is to “Pick Your Own Platter” and pick items off the menu to eat as a picnic. How cute!
Seasonal local fruit & Creamy Vanilla Pannacotta
I dined for the first time at La Fattoria on Sunday with a group of friends from work, and it was the most relaxed and delicious meal I have had in a long time. The service was amazing, with the whole family being a part of making this dream come true. Lucy was cooking up a storm, Eric was giving an excellent wine tasting – and refilling glasses the moment they got low – while his daughters were our waiters, and his mother brought us tea and coffee with the final course of dessert!
Antipasto meal with a side of roast cauliflower
From the surprising taste of the savoury buckwheat pancakes of Chisciol that leave you wanting more, to the rich tastes popping from the antipasto, when the third course arrives your mouth is watering for more. The Pasta & Cece is classic in it’s Italian style of minimal ingredients that showcases how rich in flavour tomatoes can be. By the time the main course comes out, your expectations are flying high. The roast chicken was crunchy on the outside, and as tender as can be on the inside, and perfectly accompanied with the sides. When I tried a bite of the vegetarian option of frittata, my mouth burst with flavours and it was the first time I’ve ever wished I was vegetarian. The meal was finished with the creamiest, mouth-watering pannacotta you have ever tried. When accompanied with the fresh wine, cool breeze, and wonderful view, the time slips away into a glorious afternoon of the finest dining.

There are also gluten free and vegetarian options available. Lucy went out of her way to make sure my vegetarian friend had just as wonderful a meal – if not even better!
